My wife and I were living overseas last fall when we learned we would be
returning to Washington in 2007. When we last moved to the D.C. area in
2001, we worked with a realtor who was a huge disappointment. In fact,
the experience was so bad we gave up and chose to rent. In the end,
this proved to be a bad decision because we missed the soaring housing
market that soon followed.
We learned of Karen through word of mouth and called her in November.
She immediately supplied us with a wealth of information, to include
websites, maps, financial guidance, and local area information. More
importantly, she stayed in near-daily contact with us for the next
several months. Anytime something new came on the market, she let us
know right away. This proved invaluable since we lived 4000 miles away.
She also cleared her schedule to accommodate us when we came home for a
week of house hunting in March.
For anyone who has tried to buy a home from overseas, the proposition is
very intimidating. To begin with, we had a very narrow window in which
to shop. The time proved sufficient, however, because Karen lined up
literally dozens of homes for us to look at. What's more, at the end of
each day she drove us through neighborhoods so we could seek out FSBO
homes and houses with rental signs on them. In fact, the house we ended
up buying was never listed; the owner planned to rent it. Acting as our
advocate, Karen contacted the owner and convinced her to sell us the
property - - under assessed value!
After we returned to Europe, Karen handled everything for us. She took
care of the inspection, closing, and handover. When we finally moved
back the U.S., she provided us with our keys and we were all set. We're
convinced Karen must have spent 300 hours working as our agent, and as a
result we ended up with exactly what we wanted.
Bottom line - we're convinced Karen Hall is the best realtor in the
world. Period. Go with her; you won't be disappointed!
